Where is Yamaneko Lodge?

Beside a mountain stream in Shirotori, Gujo, Gifu. Dynaland, Takasu, Washigatake and WhitePia are about twenty-five minutes by car; Gujo-Hachiman about thirty-five; UNESCO Shirakawa-go about an hour and fifteen.

How many guests can stay?

Up to twelve guests across three bedrooms: Kikori and Yamabushi (tatami rooms) and Matagi (western room). Take the whole house, or a single room.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 15:00. Check-out by 11:00.

Yes — pets are welcome, and parking on site is free.

How do I get there without a car?

Yes. Free pickup once a day from Mino-Shirotori Station or a nearby bus stop. Paid transfers from Gujo-Hachiman, the ski resorts, Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Gifu-Hashima and Nagoya. Bicycles are ¥1,500 a day.

Is there an onsen nearby?

Yes — good day baths about ten minutes away, plus a deep Japanese bath at the house. Ask us for favourites when you arrive.

Through Airbnb or Booking.com — the whole lodge for up to twelve, or an individual room. We live on site and usually reply within an hour.

Skiing Gujo, then coming homeDynaland, Takasu, Washigatake and WhitePia are roughly twenty-five minutes from Yamaneko Lodge. The day belongs to the ridges; the evening belongs to the stove, the deep bath, and a drying corridor built for nine sets of gear.
Shirakawa-go as a day, not a rushOgimachi is about an hour and fifteen minutes from the lodge — longer in heavy snow. We can drive you for ¥12,000 one way or ¥20,000 return. Takayama and Gujo-Hachiman sit on the way home if you want the day to breathe.
Finding us without a carWe meet the Nagaragawa Railway at Mino-Shirotori once a day, free of charge. Further afield — Gujo-Hachiman, the ski hills, Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Gifu-Hashima, Nagoya — we come by paid transfer. Five bicycles wait for quiet valley miles.
Where to soak near ShirotoriDay-use hot springs sit about ten minutes from the lodge, and the house itself holds a deep Japanese bath. We keep our favourites for the conversation at the door — seasons and renovations move faster than a webpage.
