The Lodge

Tatami, wood smoke & a deep hot bath

Two tatami rooms with futons and a western bedroom sleep up to nine. A wood-burning stove warms the lounge, a large kotatsu anchors the tatami room, and sliding doors open the two into one generous space. The bathroom holds a deep Japanese-style bath; a dedicated drying corridor hangs nine full sets of ski gear.

Four Seasons

A year-round mountain base

Winter

Dynaland, Takasu Snow World, Washigatake and WhitePia Takasu ski slopes — all within a 25-minute drive. Come home via one of the wonderful restaurants nearby, then soak at a local onsen.

Spring

Cherry blossoms along streams and mountain paths. Day trips to UNESCO-listed Shirakawa-go, along the clear Nagara River, or to nearby Takayama and the castle town of Gujo-Hachiman.

Summer

Gujo Odori, Japan's longest and most famous summer dance festival. Swim the clear Nagara River, fish for ayu, and cool off in the mountain shade.

Autumn

Peak autumn colour across the Gifu mountainsides, evenings at nearby onsen, and Gujo-Hachiman castle town glowing in maple red.
